How To’s in a Multilevel Setting
This hands-on workshop provides participants a variety of teaching and learning methods, strategies and sample lessons/handouts in a multilevel Adult ESL scenario (from literacy to advanced levels). It will include thematic, self-access and co-operative learning materials for practical classroom and out-of-classroom use, plus interactive listening/reading/writing techniques.  (2 hrs)

Look Mom! No Textbooks!
Feeling limited with textbooks? This workshop is about using day-to-day, newspapers, telephone directories, brochures, maps, forms, bills, etc. This is the kind of stuff practical materials like adult ESL learners truly need in the real world. Worksheets and sample lesson plans will be provided. (2 hrs)

Journal Writing
This workshop will present ideas on how to encourage your adult ESL students to write regularly, with natural progression and creativity. Samples of students’ work, lesson plans leading to journaling, and typical topics for writing will also be provided.  (1 hr)

Quiet Please
This hands-on workshop provides self-access materials for ESL Adult multilevel learners - board games, crosswords, puzzles, etc. Participants will enjoy trying out these “quiet” activities perfect for pair and group setting, and for teachers who need a break. (1.5 hrs)

Holiday Galore
This hands-on workshop will present handouts, lesson plans, ideas, games and all-skills activities,using popular holidays/seasons like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine's, etc. Perfect for small and large multilevel adult ESL classes. Be prepared to have fun! (2 hrs)

3Ms in ESL Teaching
This interactive workshop discusses how to use movies, music and magazines in ESL Teaching.  A huge step out of the box, exploring the endless ideas in using multimedia in teaching and learning English.  (2 hrs)

Using YouTube in the Classroom
A popular workshop for teachers!  There are literally thousands of videos that we teachers can use for teaching English.  But how do we use them effectively?  How do we connect the video clips to the different skills like speaking, writing, etc?  And what about multilevel classes?  These questions will be answered in the workshop.  Tons of sample lesson plans and worksheets.  (2 hrs)

These presentations are conducted by Irene J.I. Lardizabal, an experienced teacher trainer with 23 years ESL teaching experience in Asia, Middle East and North America. Irene is a familiar face in TESL Ontario, TESL Canada and TESL affiliate conferences, having trained ESL/EFL teachers, both in private schools and public school boards through her practical, useful presentations.
